Blos-som

Noun

A flower or group of flowers. Example: In September the Lapacho trees and the streets below them are covered in blossoms.

Intransitive Verb

  1. To come into flower; bloom. Example: The Lapachos blossomed early this year.
  2. To develop; flourish. Example: Although she was only 3 pounds when she was born, she blossomed into a healthy little girl.

What better word for September than “blossom”? In Asuncion in September, you can’t walk a block without stepping on Lapacho or Bougainvillea blossoms, or seeing them cascading over walls and doorways. One Brazilian artist, Fabio Gomes Trindade, even uses the blossoming bushes to complete his murals – so creative! Check out more of his work here.
