Where the wild things are

Hela Goodwin, February 19, 2025

Last  week at Primavera English we wrapped up our Colonia de Vacaciones  program with a wild ‘End of Summer Picnic’. You might wonder, why was it wild?

There’s a great story about a boy called Max who doesn’t listen to his mother, so he is sent to bed. In his room, an imaginary jungle grows, with a boat that sails him away to the land where the wild things are. There he becomes king of the monsters, and joins in their wild monster party. In the end, he returns home, because he misses his mother.

To re-enact this delightful story, the students each made a mask out of paper mache formed around a balloon. Then they added their own monster features, and painted them with very creative colors.

The result was a very enjoyable production performed for parents and teachers, followed by games and s’mores.

Now it’s back to school until next summer break.
