Shoot the Breeze

Yolanda Wegner, July 12, 2023

Remember last month’s post? Well, if you drop in on someone, you often stay for a while and shoot the breeze or have a casual conversation with that person. If you interpret this literally it could be confusing because to shoot into the wind would be pointless. To shoot the breeze is a positive, informal reference to the joy of human connection and relaxed conversation about interesting topics without a specific agenda.

Example sentences:

On the weekends my friends and I like to get together to relax and shoot the breeze.

The old friends sat in the café shooting the breeze until after dark.
